A newborn baby who was allegedly stolen from Walsh Hospital in Serampore was successfully rescued by police with the help of CCTV footage, officials said on Friday. According to police sources, the infant went missing shortly after birth, creating panic among the family members and hospital staff. Following the complaint, police immediately launched an investigation and began reviewing CCTV footage installed inside and around the hospital premises.
The footage reportedly showed a woman leaving the hospital with the newborn in suspicious circumstances. Using the visual evidence, police traced the suspect’s movements and conducted a search operation in nearby areas. Within a few hours, officers managed to rescue the baby safely and reunite the child with the family. The accused woman was detained for questioning, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive behind the incident. Hospital authorities stated that they are cooperating fully with the investigation and are reviewing security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
