Illegal constructions are also being demolished with the help of bulldozers. And in this atmosphere, a contractor has accused the engineer of the BDO office of taking ’embezzlement’. The engineer has been accused of taking ’embezzlement’ of about 5 lakh rupees step by step.  This time, the BDO office engineer is accused of taking bribes. The contractor has accused the BDO office engineer in Arambagh. ‘The engineer took about 5 lakh taka step by step for various works’, such serious allegations have been made against BDO office engineer Sumanta Biswas in Arambagh. However, BDO office engineer Sumanta Biswas has denied the allegations. The BDO of Arambagh has assured to investigate the contractor’s allegations. The contractor and the engineer of the BDO office are in a public dispute. The contractor alleges that since 2023, the engineer of the Arambagh BDO office has been taking money from him in stages before billing him. The contractor further alleges that the engineer also said, ‘No one’s father has the power to transfer him from this BDO office.’ The contractor has also alleged against the engineer that ‘the work was not paid for’. ‘The money was taken in stages before billing.’ The contractor even alleged that ‘the engineer blamed the BDO and said that the BDO should be paid,’ such is the contractor’s allegation.

Newborn stolen from Serampore Walsh Hospital rescued with help of CCTV footage.

A newborn baby who was allegedly stolen from Walsh Hospital in Serampore was successfully rescued by police with the help of CCTV footage, officials said on Friday. According to police sources, the infant went missing shortly after birth, creating panic among the family members and hospital staff. Following the complaint, police immediately launched an investigation and began reviewing CCTV footage installed inside and around the hospital premises. The footage reportedly showed a woman leaving the hospital with the newborn in suspicious circumstances. Using the visual evidence, police traced the suspect’s movements and conducted a search operation in nearby areas. Within a few hours, officers managed to rescue the baby safely and reunite the child with the family. The accused woman was detained for questioning, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive behind the incident. Hospital authorities stated that they are cooperating fully with the investigation and are reviewing security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Fire Accident At A Shop Near Station.

A devastating fire broke out in a shop near platform number 1 of Virati station. Fire broke out in 3 book shops adjacent to the station, power was cut off. The fire was brought under control with the efforts of 2 fire engines at the spot. Train services on the down line on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch have been suspended. Earlier, a terrible fire broke out in Jadubabu Bazar adjacent to Virati station on December 30. About 200 shops were gutted in the fire.  Flames quickly spread through parts of the building, with thick smoke visible from a distance. Residents rushed out of their homes as the fire intensified, while locals immediately alerted emergency services. Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and worked for several hours to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities have been reported so far, though a few individuals suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation and were treated at a nearby hospital. Several households have reported property damage, with furniture and personal belongings destroyed in the incident. Local officials have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage. Residents have been advised to follow safety guidelines, including regular electrical maintenance and keeping fire extinguishers readily available.

BLO attempts suicide by jumping into Ganga in Serampore.

‘Attempted suicide’ by jumping into the middle of the Ganges in Serampore, Hooghly. Sudden jump from a launch carrying passengers from Serampore ferry to Barrackpore. The man, a resident of Titagarh, is the acting headmaster of a school in Kanchrapara. There are 1,250 voters in that person’s booth. The man was working as a BLO. He said, ‘I was suffering from mental stress while working for SIR’. The BLO claimed after his rescue that he is not that skilled in digitization-related work. Political tension is high around the allegations of BLO’s suicide attempt.
