Abhishek’s Explosive Letter to Sports Minister Proposes Corruption Free Sports System.
Former CAB president Abhishek Dalmiya approached state Sports Minister Indranil Khan to make Bengal’s sports arenas free from corruption. Be it cricket or other sports, corruption is rampant on the field. There are many allegations against sports administrators. Some are accused of giving opportunities to the team in exchange for money, while others are accused of illegally holding the reins of the sports administration. Many times, budding players are being cheated and forced to bow down to corruption. To make the sports arena of Bengal corruption-free, former CAB president and former member of the IPL Governing Council of the Indian Cricket Board has approached the state’s Sports Minister Indranil Khan. Another identity of his is that he is the son of legendary cricket administrator, the late Jagmohan Dalmiya. Abhishek wrote a letter to West Bengal’s Minister of State for Sports, Indranil Khan, and made a novel proposal. He requested that a helpline number be opened. Where, from budding players to concerned parents, well-wishers of the sports world – if they are victims of corruption, they can call the number and report it directly. Abhishek also appealed to the Sports Department to investigate the complaint and take strict action, he said. Abhishek wrote in the letter, “I am writing this letter with deep concern for the future of the state’s sports sector and the interests of countless young players. I believe that the only criterion for determining their future should be based on their talent and performance. In the last few years, allegations of corruption, favoritism, fraud related to eligibility and abuse of power have repeatedly come to light in various sports sectors. It has often been alleged that a player is forced to pay money to play, get a place in the team, or even get admitted to the academy. There have also been allegations of manipulation of what should be the eligibility criteria, depriving truly talented local players. Which is very worrying. As a result, questions are being raised about the credibility of the playing field.”
