A devastating fire broke out in a shop near platform number 1 of Virati station. Fire broke out in 3 book shops adjacent to the station, power was cut off. The fire was brought under control with the efforts of 2 fire engines at the spot. Train services on the down line on the Sealdah-Bangaon branch have been suspended. Earlier, a terrible fire broke out in Jadubabu Bazar adjacent to Virati station on December 30. About 200 shops were gutted in the fire. Flames quickly spread through parts of the building, with thick smoke visible from a distance. Residents rushed out of their homes as the fire intensified, while locals immediately alerted emergency services.
